Make Windsurf (Devin Desktop) usage last longer

Windsurf is now documented as Devin Desktop. On self-serve plans, quota and extra usage are billed by the token cost of the model you pick. Each tip below cites the official doc it comes from (read 2026-10-21). We don't estimate how much each one saves; vendors don't publish that.

1. Check your usage

   Open the Devin Desktop widget in the status bar and choose Plan Info, or go to Settings > Usage & limits or app.devin.ai/settings/plans.

2. Choose the model with cost in mind

   Self-serve quota and extra usage bill by the selected model's token cost; the model selector in the agent panel shows current prices. For most users the docs recommend Fusion, which pairs a frontier lead model with a cost-efficient sidekick.

3. Use promotional pricing while it lasts

   Gemini 3.7 Flash and 3.8 Flash are at introductory pricing ($0.75/1M input, $3.75/1M output) through December 31, 2026. SWE-2 was free for self-serve through October 15, 2026; list pricing applies now.

4. Exclude files with .devinignore

   Gitignore syntax at the repo root. Matched paths are not indexed and cannot be viewed, edited or created by the agent. The legacy .windsurfignore and .codeiumignore names still work.
